Kathy Crawford today testified in the Senate Agriculture Committee on her bill which would require continuing education for veterinary professionals.House Bill 4408, would establish continuing education requirements for veterinarians and veterinary technicians as a condition for license renewal. “This legislation is extremely important to the health and welfare of our state,” said Rep. Crawford, R-Novi. “Veterinary professionals are often the first line of defense for public health and food safety as a large number of diseases can be transmitted from animals to humans, many of which have been discovered only recently.Michigan is currently the only state without continuing medical education requirements for licensed veterinarians and veterinary technicians.
