Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources atWest Virginia University invites applications for a ResearchAssociate in the area of process systems engineering.Qualifications :Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering with expertisein the area of process systems engineering. Applicants must alsohave expertise in one or more of the following areas: 1) partialdifferential equation (PDE)-based dynamic modeling of processunits; 2) nonlinear estimation techniques; 3) reduced ordermodeling; 4) equipment stress modeling and advanced processcontrol. Demonstrated sound knowledge of using commercialsteady-state and dynamic process modeling software such as AspenPlus, Aspen Plus Dynamics, Aspen Custom Modeler, etc., andprogramming languages, especially Python is also required. Inaddition, applicants should have at least 1 year of postdoctoralexperience in academia, government or industry in the area ofprocess systems engineering.Responsibilities will include but not limited to guiding graduateand/or undergraduate students who will also work on the project;meeting deadlines, preparing, presenting, and reporting resultseffectively; working with other researchers from national labs,academia, and industry on all aspects related to this work;assisting with writing proposals to seek funding; communicatingeffectively both orally and in writing as demonstrated throughmonthly and quarterly reports, preparation of peer-reviewedjournals, and presenting at national and international meetings andconferences.WVU is the State’s comprehensive Land Grant University with anenrollment of about 29,000 students and a R1 CarnegieClassification.
