first_imgThere are five divisions in the 7-a- side tournament: Men’s, Women’s, Junior Mixed, Senior Mixed and Master’s Mixed. The finals will be played on Monday, April 17.The Charity Cup was founded in 1998 by Kisakiu Posman. Over the years the event has grown in popularity and has expanded from a one‐day competition to a full four‐day charity sporting event. The Charity Cup’s organising committee comprises of volunteers mainly of Posman Kua Aisi Lawyers who have partnered up with other volunteers.Chiquie Posman said the new focus of of the tournament is to promote awareness for issues and challenges that workers from the PNG Business Sector and PNG Government Sector continue to face due to changes to their lifestyle (dietary and lack of physical exertion).“Presently the cost of lifestyle related issues for workers to business and government sectors remains unquantified.“Resultant losses to the workers and their families also remain as an unknown. We all must do something about this issue and its related challenges.“A portion of the funds raised from the tournament will go towards the running cost of the tournament, which includes the setup of a Wellness Clinic at the Event to allow participants to have a health check at no cost to registered participants.“The remaining surplus will be given to the Women’s Doctors Association Inc. to carry out Breakfast Meetings to educate workers on Lifestyle Diseases and on‐site check-ups for the workers of the PNG Business Sector and PNG Government Sector,” said Posman.last_img
